reed reunion

ok here is paul zinkin ...

as time is passing and sometimes when occasions becomes so much when every day becomes like a passing with so many experiences with so many chance meetings it becomes difficult to keep up..... i dont have the time to upload look at photots when from 630 in morning till 1230 atnite we are just intereaatcing and each interaction is like bringing up so much.... i am now in portland its almost 1 at nite.... am leaving to denvier tomorrow and wana lupload this inbetween chats with friends and kids keeping me up to date with great changes in lif e in india....... but i want to keep this as my memoriy of this trip

and this my reminde r of the wonderful times we spet the memories you brought of these the discussions we had..... and our future associations... it si 1 at nite and i cant do it right now but its on record.........

ahere is suzie and me with my advisor in psychology at reed college dr william wies... we went o his house in portland and had a most wonderful lunch and lots of stories and warm memories... i had often been to this same house where thelma and bill siest were most gracious welcomers of us in their home... i shall try and puttheir comments up as comments ont his blog about our talks.... and as he said it ws wonderful to see what my students had done in the 40 years since we last met.

as usual mira making some dramatic point i hope;..... out discussion was entiteld humanaties from a non western perspective....reed is a liberal arts college which has a compulsory humanaties course in the first year which covers western civilisation.... our 40 minute presentation was on the need to expand this to cover non western civilisations..... the talk was well received.much applause much discussion


well sasha who has been complainig more pix...this should make her happy.... this is entering the reed reunion day 1 on wednesday 2nd the day am supposed to do talk... suzy and i will present together... so am in sari... here is janet neyberg with whom i stayed for 4 months in the summer of 67 with her family in lake oswego, sasha and ashi have been there....... and deedee another freindin our class the suzie.... behind is the students union

suzie and i are staying at one of vikys empty flats just opposite his house.... nalini has 2 cats and suzy is dreadfully allergic, so we cannot stay there....... the view from this house and ciks is petacular.you c an see mount hood , the river........ this is morning sunrise.......... the last we saw of the sun for 5 days........... after this cloudy
reed is celebrating its 100 year in 2011 i think, and they are collecting class stories ... here is one evening session held after storm warnings were up, hail started falling, so people ran off... dark clouds...but then it cleared up and we came back... one story... there was a student who always was reading and one nite he went to the busstop outside read and was reading under the lampost...a cop car came and asked what he was doing, he said reading.... he was promptly picked up taken to the cop station.... the next night, hundreds of reedies were under street lights all over the city... apparantly it was reported all over, as reading shelley by moonlight
there was an open house which discused our topic, humanaties in a non western perspective... here i am making an announement of what we will discuss ... simultaneously a wine tasting going on where ex readies who are now involved in wines are showing off their wines
the discussion... more are involved but cant get in the pix... me in the centre leading the group.... the guy next to me is on the reed board ..... everyone totally in favour of an expanded course..............covering all civilisations
the woman next to me says she was in the dorm with me and i gave her a sari.... which she still has and would i show her how to wear it again.... next to her is another woman from our dorm, who also remembered me...she has been thought cancer and a rough time
at the class dinner meet this couple dick burnhart. my class who tandem byclyed from agra to mumbai to the world social forem 5 years ago..they give me a signed copy of their book..... am leaving this with viky to inspire ahin and all to come to india

suzy and me with pat mcmohan... he tells me that i took his picture for his senior thesis, and he often takes it out and looks at it to reflect on himself........ suzie and i go to library to see this...all our thesis are not available since they have been taken and not returned...yeh that means someone liked it.... next day we go to the archives get copies of our theses...i see the pix...and finally know who he is ... he is into buddhism, and came to india 2 years ago and went mainly to mathura....
